Frequently Asked Questions
What does cropping a PDF do?
Cropping sets a new visible boundary (crop box) for each page. Content outside the crop region is hidden from view but still present in the file. This is useful for removing white margins, cutting out headers/footers, or focusing on a specific area.
Does cropping reduce file size?
No. Cropping only hides content outside the crop box — it does not remove the underlying data. For actual size reduction, consider using our Compress PDF tool after cropping.
What unit are the crop values?
Values are in points (1 point = 1/72 inch). A standard US Letter page is 612 x 792 points. For example, setting Left to 72 removes a 1-inch border from the left side.
